On 15th May, Year 5 from Highfield School visited Marwell Zoo, as part of a Geography unit of work on ‘Endangered Species’.
The day began with a talk in the Education Centre on conservation which encouraged the children to consider why species become threatened in the wild. The children were then lucky enough to have a close encounter with two threatened species, a stick insect and a snake. Once the pupils had said their thank you’s and washed their hands they moved on to follow the threatened species trail around the zoo where they saw a wide range of interesting animals. Both staff and pupils had a wonderful day.
