Drama is of the utmost importance at Highfield and all children are involved in a production during their time at Highfield. In Years 5 – 6 there is one lesson a week and in Years 7 & 8 drama is taught through the activity slot on a rotating basis.

The emphasis in lessons is to create a love of drama and to expose children to as many elements of the art as possible. They are involved in mime; improvised work; devised work and script work. We encourage the children to have fun, develop self-confidence and co-operate with each other.

We have put on some wonderful performances, not least those at the end of Year 8 when the children put on “a play in 10 days” as their finale at Highfield.

Performances include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Around The World in Eighty Days; Much Ado About Nothing; The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe; Oliver Twist.
