About Brookham
Welcome from the head

Welcome to Brookham School. We work in a beautiful environment. Our
bright and airy purpose-built building, surrounded by extensive grounds,
woodland and outstanding facilities gives our children the best possible
start to their educational adventure; and that is exactly what we hope
their first few years here will be.

We are passionate about giving our children a breadth of experience that
would be hard to match. One should never underestimate what young
children are able to achieve. In a vibrant, supportive and caring
situation, such as we provide at Brookham, the sky is literally the
limit. At a time when the national curriculum has been narrowed down to
exclude a great deal of sport and other activities we proudly boast that
sport, drama, music and the arts are essential aspects of what we do to
give our children a well rounded start.

Our 24 place nursery, run by experienced and caring staff
is highly regarded in the area. It gives the children a
structured, secure, challenging and fun start to their
educational experience. Trips out and regular visitors
enhance the curriculum and help to involve the children
in their learning.

This is an ethos that underpins everything we do at
Brookham. From visiting the local fire station while in
the nursery to heading off on a residential adventure trip
to Somerset aged 8, all our children enjoy a wide variety
of opportunities to find out more about themselves and how
the world works. In this way our children become active
rather than passive learners at an early stage and enjoy
every minute of their days at school. By understanding that
they are allowed to take risks with their learning our
children develop a joy for seeking out new information
and leave Brookham with skills which will stay with them
for the rest of their lives.

We encourage our parents to be involved in their children's learning as
much as they are able. We have a genuinely open door policy and feedback
is regular and thorough. An active parent/ teacher group, the "Friends of
Brookham" helps everyone to be involved and plays an important role in
welcoming new families to the school, ensuring they get to meet existing
families as soon as possible.  From the moment you register your  son or
daughter you will be part of the Brookham family and receive copies of
our weekly newsletters by email.

Visitors to Brookham always comment on how warm a welcome they receive
and how impressed they are by our happy and confident children. This
comes in no small measure from our caring, committed staff who gently
guide the children towards forming good relationships with their peers
and developing their  ability to problem solve and so begin to
understand how they fit into our school community and the world in
general.

Although I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about us here on
the website, I hope you will take the next step and visit the school;
by doing so you will genuinely appreciate how special a school Brookham
is and I look forward to welcoming you here then.
