Facilities
The Maths Department has three dedicated teaching rooms (2 in the Masters' House and 1 in Main School). All three classrooms have interactive whiteboards and have internet access.
Ethos
"Maths: A tool for life"
Our syllabus is aimed at preparing pupils to sit Common Entrance at 13+ or Senior School scholarship papers at the same age. We do, of course, also prepare children for their entrance papers at 11+ and 12+ as required.
In Year 5 the pupils have a copy of Target Maths 5 or 6 available to them and those in Years 6 - 8 use the Essential Maths series of text books as their primary text. We supplement our core texts with sections of work from other text books as well as in house worksheets and resources.
Early in their maths career pupils are encouraged to develop their knowledge of the times tables and number bonds as these are the fundamental building blocks upon which everything else is supported.
As we are lucky enough to have interactive whiteboards in each Maths Room we endeavour to show the children websites of interest as well as showing the importance of ICT in Maths.
