Highfield News The Spring Term started early for 17 Art Scholars with a trip to London on Saturday 10th January to visit the Courtauld and Tate Modern Galleries. At the Courtauld we were met by one of the gallery's artists who spent an hour with the group showing a selection of the works on display and talking about the artists, the methods used to paint the pictures and what to look for in the pictures that might not be obvious at first, as well as getting the children to give their thoughts on the paintings and the work of the artists. We then spent just under an hour looking around the rest of the gallery with the children sketching one or two pieces that they particularly liked. In fact, they got so involved that some couldn't believe it when they were told that their time was up and we needed to get back to the coach to move on to the Tate Modern!
