Year 4 Trip to The Lion King
Year 4 recently visited London to see The Lion King as part of our topic, Africa. We awoke to a bright, sunny day so made the most of a day in London, with lunch outside and a chance to explore Covent Garden. For many, this was a first time visit to Covent Garden and we were lucky enough to be wowed by opera singers and string quartets and fought off the pigeons whilst having our sandwiches!
As we took our seats in the theatre, there was a buzz of excitement from the children. Eager in anticipation, and engrossed from the beginning, it was wonderful to watch the awe and wonder on the children's faces throughout. As a special surprise (a big thank you to the Mannings for organising!) we were lucky enough to meet Scar himself afterwards! George Asprey has played Scar in The Lion King for ten years and generously took time out after the performance to come and meet Year 4 and answer their questions. The children asked thoughtful questions and gained a sneaky insight into life as an actor.
It was a fabulous day out and the children's conduct throughout the day was exemplary, with three members of the public commenting on how impressed they were with their behaviour. Well done, Year 4!
