U11 Girls Cricket Report
The U11As Girls’ Cricket Tournament took place at Hall Grove School on 19th June and attracted the very best and most established Girls’ Cricket playing schools. Highfield rose to the occasion with an early win against Danes Hill, with a great batting performance from Martha Sherlock and Ellen Yorke-Lindley and consistent bowling from Hattie Glaister who secured a hat-trick of wickets!
Unfortunately, Highfield were not able to repeat the performance, but the girls made a great deal of progress throughout the day and certainly enjoyed themselves!
The glorious weather set the tone for the U11Bs match against Feltonfleet on Wednesday. Highfield, batting first, started with Ophelia and Milly, who were undaunted by the task of opening. In the first over they scored 18 runs! Kitty and Grace, then Mariana and Flo kept up the momentum with their power pairs, putting the pressure on Feltonfleet's deep fielders. The girls had been working hard on their bowling this week, which was put to devastating use against the Feltonfleet batters. Whilst fielding, the U11s were pro-active and vocal. Mariana and Grace did themselves proud by stumping two of the opposition, with assistance from Millie and Kitty in the field. All this resulting in a fabulous win of 254 - 217.
