The annual Bushcraft Club Campout finally arrived last Friday evening. A long-awaited event, our bushcraft club contingent busily build their dens all year in the build-up to campout. In the end, some opted to camp in dens and some in tents, most ably put up by themselves.
This was impressive as many of the campers were Year 4's. Dinner cooked over the fire was enjoyed by all and our special guests, Imogen Lord and Olivia Prescott, entertained our mesmerised campers with a number of excellent camp fire songs. Running around games up on the golf course followed in the setting sun and the warmth of late June.
As it started to get dark, roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate was the order of the day, accompanied by more excellent songs delivered by Imogen. Most slept well throughout the night and those who briefly 'wobbled' showed resilience and strength of character by getting back off to sleep. We woke up with the summer sunrise and the magical sounds of the dawn chorus followed by bacon butties for breakfast and a swift pack down. This is a true highlight of the year and a valuable experience for all involved, well done to all campers.
Thank you to Mr Hall and Mr Le Heup for their able assistance.
