Our second gala of the season was held against Westbourne House School
Highfield & Brookham Highfield Prep School

We held the second gala of the season on Monday against Westbourne House School. It was always going to be a noisy and fast-paced gala and we were not disappointed! The start of the medleys saw us jump into the lead by 2 points. The individual backstroke races were swum with speed and style, and with three great wins from Brodie (U9), Luke (U10)  and Issie (U11), we maintained the winning streak.

The breaststroke individuals again saw us dominating with superb wins from Sophie (U9), Angela (U10) and our captain, Oliver (U13). This lead us into the butterfly and with some great swimming from Westbourne and no wins for Highfield, the score changed, we were now four points down and needing to claw back points. We were not to be disappointed. We won all the freestyle races with some excellent swims from Sky (U9) and Brodie (U9) who both came joint first along with a Westbourne house swimmer. Emma (U10), Freya (U11) and Scarlett (U13) all helped to push us back into the lead. The freestyle relays were very intense and with the team only managing two wins out of the five Westbourne were back on our tails again. We were just two points ahead so the final score would now be determined by the cannon race.

We had to win this to win the gala! With much shouting and cheering from both the children and the parents, we swam to victory. The final scores of the afternoon were Highfield 123 points Westbourne house 129 points (lowest score wins).

Many thanks to all my swimmers for a very exciting gala, Jo Gordon for starting and Michelle for being our amazing scorer.
