Annual Swimming House Gala
We held our Annual House Swimming Gala on Monday. This is always a fun and noisy event and this year was no exception. Eighty children took part with many of them swimming for the first time in a competitive environment. We kicked off with the medleys and some great swimming all round resulted in all Houses ending this section on equal points. Waterloo began to dominate during the backstroke races, winning five of the 10 races. But Agincourt were hot on their heels, and after some wonderfully quick breaststroke races, edged into the lead. Trafalgar upped their game in the butterfly individuals and won five out of 10 in this section. It was nail-bitingly close as we prepared to swim the freestyle. Trafalgar took the majority of wins in this section to a background of cheering and encouragement from their captains. Agincourt and Waterloo were chasing close behind and the children were full of enthusiasm for their Houses as we began the freestyle relays. All the Houses gained either nine or ten points each, which meant the final cannon race was going to be very exciting indeed. With double points on offer, there was everything to swim for. All the children not swimming were standing on the benches and cheering as loudly as they could. In a close finale, Agincourt swam to victory for the second year in a row. The final scores were Waterloo 110 points, Trafalgar 102 points and Agincourt 96 points (lowest score wins). A huge well done to all the swimmers and to all the parents for their constant support and superb cheering.
