Brookham Year 3s Conquer Challenges at Mill on the Brue
46 Year 3 children from Highfield and Brookham Schools in Liphook recently enjoyed their very first school residential trip to Mill on the Brue outdoor adventure activity centre. Set in 25 acres of glorious Somerset countryside the centre offers over 40 activities in a home from home environment.
During the three-night, action-packed adventure the children challenged themselves and faced their fears as they approached a range of fun and exciting outdoor experiences with gusto. They jumped out of tall towers, sped down zip wires, paddled frenetically in canoes, crawled through tunnels, built rockets, climbed over, under and through obstacles, shot arrows, undertook the biggest waterslide they had ever seen and achieved many more team building tasks that might have left the fainthearted gasping. But not the Highfield and Brookham children! The team leaders at Mill on the Brue were truly impressed by the children’s attitudes and enthusiasm, even when the weather was not as kind as it could have been!
Sophie Baber, Headteacher at Brookham School, said of the children,
“It was so impressive to see each and every one of them trying new things, working cooperatively to conquer obstacles, cheering each other on and responding with sensitivity to support any friend having a wobbly moment. It has been a pleasure to share their adventures with them, to see them challenge themselves and grow both in confidence and in independence. Many wonderful memories have been made and I am sure they will remember Mill on the Brue for many years to come.”
