Our pupils know the importance of service and giving back which is why our sponsored walk attracted 300 of our pupils, accompanied by teachers, parents, friends, family and dogs! They set off for an adventurous walk through beautiful local woodland, over varying terrain, and past some truly old, awe-inspiring and magnificent oak trees.

The sponsored walk raised an amazing £3,905 for Highfield Highreach Holidays, just shy of our aim of £4,000.

Highreach Holidays is a small volunteer-run organisation that provides an annual week-long residential holiday for children and young adults, aged 8 -16 years old, with a range of learning difficulties, who may also have physical disabilities or medical conditions. It allows them to enjoy an incredible week full of memorable experiences in the safe environment of Highfield and Brookham Schools in Liphook. It also provides crucial respite for the families of these children. This year’s holiday will be held from 4th to 11th August.

A parent whose child attended Highreach Holidays in 2018, said

It was great for us to have a break and be able to do some things with her sister. However, it made it much easier for us knowing that she was so well looked after while we were away.

Fundraising events, such as this sponsored walk are vital as the organisation also accommodates those families who cannot afford the high price of many commercial respite care schemes. Costs are kept low by raising funds to cover more than 50% of the cost of the holidays, and because all of the staff are volunteers.

Phillip Evitt said

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the sponsored walk and who helped to raise a fantastic amount of money for this year’s Highfield Highreach Holiday. The children attending will be able to enjoy numerous trips and opportunities as a result of your kindness and support.
