Garden Designer By Day, Visor Maker By Night
Sarah Bicknell, who has two children at Highfield and Brookham Schools, has been very busy during lockdown. She has set up a team of more than 40 volunteers to assemble, distribute and deliver visors for local Care Givers across Surrey and Hampshire. On their first day alone, they made 400 visors.
Sarah's whole family have been involved and her daughters, Mia and Millie, have been counting out the foam strips needed to make the visors - what a great maths lesson! They have now reached their half way mark and have distributed 10,000 visors to Care Homes and Community Hospitals in Grayshott, Hindhead, Haslemere Liphook, Farnham Godalming, Guildford, Chiddingfold, Cranleigh, Liss, Petersfield, Petworth, Bordon and Fernhurst.
Sarah Bicknell says,
I was getting frustrated because I wanted to do something to help the NHS but didn’t know how. Less than a week ago this was just a small idea in my head! We now have a strong infrastructure with some fantastic local business people now on the management team such as Fiona Grist [another Highfield and Brookham parent].
This is helping to save the lives of Care Givers, their families and the vulnerable people they are working so hard to protect. Sarah's aim is to raise £20,000 to allow her to reach the aim of making 20,000 visors. If you would like to make a donation head to gofundme.com/f/visors-for-care-givers.
